Lou Shelton Goes To Hell

For criminal acts, and violence on the stage

For being a brat, refusing to act your age

For all of the decent citizens you enrage,

You can go to hell!

For gambling and drinking alcohol constantly,

For making us doubt our parents’ authority,

For choosing to be a living obscenity,

You can go to hell!

You’re something that never should have happened,

You even make your grandma sick!

Alice Cooper, “Go To Hell”

Guess what? Lou Shelton, James Dobson, and the other leaders of the Religious Reich, are going straight to hell! They’ve got spits all reserved, and barbecue sauce and Memphis dry rub ready and waiting. ‘Ol Lucifer’s licking his chops, and got the beans and co’nbre’d ready.

Why? Because they’re liars. And not only did they lie from the pulpit, they lied to Congress about what HR1592, the hate crimes bill, would do. And, just for the record, here’s what their own book, the Holy Bible, the King James Version, has to say about liars:
John 8:43-47 “Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”- John 8:43-47

They’re Not of God. Straight from their own book.

I’m singling out Lou Shelton in particular, because it was his organization, the TRADITIONAL VALUES COALITION, that issued this spew:

We must defeat H.R. 1592, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007, by Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Democrat from Michigan.

Without your action, this anti-Christian legislation will pass — under the guise of hate-crime prevention — and accomplish the following homosexual goals:

* Silence the Bible-believing Churches, Pastors and Christians

Hardly. There’s nothing in HR1592 that prohibits or inhibits anti-GLBT speech, although if I had my way, it would. It only prohibits violent crimes perpetrated against GLBT people (and others). Do the crime, do the time. Real simple.

* Criminalize so-called “hate speech,” – which is any speech that is critical of homosexuality or cross-dressing behaviors. The suppression of free speech will be justified by the claim that such speech “incites” individuals to commit violence against homosexuals, cross-dressers etc. Any remarks about homosexuality, such as reading Bible passages, preaching on these passages, telling a person they can come out of the homosexual lifestyle, etc. will be deemed critical remarks and will be ruled to be outside the bounds of First Amendment protections for pastors, business owners and individuals.

Bullshit. Only the person who commits the crime will be covered by the law. Not that we should tolerate hate speech, from a pulpit or not, but that’s not the content or goal of this bill. Although, in my opinion, if a person is told by their clergyman that they can kill a transgender person because God thinks they should, they should be tried on conspiracy to commit murder.

* Elevate homosexuality and gender confused individuals such as drag queens, cross-dressers, she-males, etc. to the status of federally-protected minorities. These behaviors will be considered equal to race under the federal law.

Well, they g0t one part right. It does this, as it should, as it needs to. Sorry that they don’t love all human beings, as Jesus did, and that they feel that some humans are less valuable than others, unlike Jesus. And I’m real sorry to see that they think people ought to be killed for expressing their gender. I don’t call for them to be killed for expressing their sorry, ridiculous, hateful excuse for religious belief.

* Interfere with local law enforcement by elevating every alleged incident of “hate” against a homosexual or cross-dresser into a federal crime

As it should. That clause exists so that a hate crime is a hate crime everywhere in the country, and that if local law enforcement officials decide that they don’t want to zealously pursue a hate crime against a GLBT person (in other words, like the Matthew Shepard case, and nearly all murders of transgendered persons – see the “Remembering Our Dead” list) , the feds can come in and take the case over. Justice will be done.

Shelton? Dobson? Colson? Robertson? Falwell? I think Lucifer’s throwing a barbecue for you guys.

House, 237 thanks. You passed it. I expect the Senate to do the same. Of course, Bush says he’s gonna veto the bill, but since when has George W. Bush ever done anything correct in 6+ years of this illegal presidency, or 6+ years as Texas Governor, or several years of owning the Texas Rangers………the list goes on. Republicans, got an idea for you: for your next Presidential nominee, why don’t you go down to the homeless shelter, find an alcohol-addled mental reetard, clean ’em up, and run them for President…..oh, yes, after watching the debate last Thursday night, I see you already have a few reetards ready to go. It’s a damned shame the GOP convention’s going to resemble the Special Olympics, because I can remember when Republicans could actually be honorable people. Not anymore.
